South Alabama Regional Arts Alliance is an existing group composed of representatives from the various arts organizations in our area. They meet for the purpose of coordinating their events. |

1. Gather information from national, state, and local councils on the arts concerning best practices for forming a Council on the Arts in our community. |
2. Develop a mission statement to guide the discussion about forming a Council on the Artsin our community. This statement should clarify that our interest is in helping existing arts groups promote and market their particular expertise, while also expanding the availability of cultural amenities and the arts in the community. |
3. Survey existing arts organizations concerning their area of focus and ways in which a Council on the Arts could assist them in achieving their goals. |
RECOGNIZED GAPS/SHORTFALLS:
There is no umbrella arts council serving to promote, and market the many arts organizations in and around our community and serving also to expand the availability of cultural amenities and the arts in our area. |
